…and I feel fine. Ok, more than fine, but that has nothing (well, ok a little bit) to do with Uber and shopping and all to do with a certain muscleboy who decided to steamroll over me with a freight train and asked me to partner with him in SL yesterday. So faithful stalkers will have to excuse my current Julie Andrews Singin’ On a Mountain Top high and how it is influencing my normal, sarcastic, and biting tone of voice.
Now in its second month, Uber’s theme for September is Apocalypse. I have to say, for once I went to an event and almost everything in the event fit the theme! That is, granted, everything that was actually there. A lot of the booths still had their ‘coming soon’ signs up and while I won’t call attention to who, it does bring up a sore point for a lot of designers and shoppers alike: Too. Many. Events. Yes, it is ultimately up to the Designers to choose their events wisely and divide their time appropriately but there needs to be some way of ensuring that everyone is set up before opening and those that aren’t, get replaced. Nothing worse than spending time hammering on an event location, finally getting in… and half the designers aren’t set up yet.
But for those that were, let me just say… DAYUM. Uber this month is full of fantastic goodies from hair and skins to accessories, clothes, furniture and entire sets. So lets start there, with the set.
Consignment has put out Jack’s Bugout Shelter as a skybox in two versions: One empty and one fully furnished. The individual pieces inside the shelter are available separately so you can mix and match if you prefer. In addition, they’re copy so you can really make a unique themed skybox. Each piece of mesh is beautifully textured and unique. Photoshoots or post-apocalyptic RP, this is definitely a great buy for a reasonable price. The bed comes with a set of single, couple and adult poses which step above the standard “sleep 1” and “sleep 2” poses.
Starting at the top, not that I’m in any way biased of course, is the new release from Exile: Day The World Went Away. Available in 3 sizes (Men’s (no boob bump! no disappear into shoulders!), Women’s and Busty Women’s) this is the first of the shaved-side-head releases that features a completely unique separation of the hair. The shorter right side of the hair is a separate, modifiable attachment which can be hand colored or also colored by the standard Exile HUD that comes with the pack. Since it is separate, it can also be completely removed for the hair-base only shaved look. So really you’re getting 2 styles in one. Quite clever, Mr. Cleanslate. Quite clever, indeed.
I’m not one for make-up outside of my ever-present guyliner, but the Zibska “eye splashes” are quite amazing. Available in 9 colors the swipes of paint over the eyes and cheeks look like they were very haphazardly dashed there and fit the face in a unique pattern I’ve not seen on SL before. Definitely worth it for versatility alone.
I picked up the boots from Deadwool and it was one of those, without question, instant Fatpack purchases. My boot whoredom needed a fix and these are just delicious. Not only beautifully shaped and textured, the tight-top of the boot makes them perfect for most mesh pants that are not labelled ‘skinny’. I tried them on with several different pairs (L&B, Dozze, FATE, XPlosion, and Aphorism) and they worked with all of them.
