Trials of Eyeliner

Comes across all shy and coy, just another nancy boy

Hermit? Check
Creature of Habit? Check
Luddite? No, just behind the 8 ball, dammit!

I signed up to blog for De La Soul in response to a ‘lookin’ for bloggers!’ post and got my first release from DLS last night.  This morning I go to open it and its a ‘wear and click’. Ok, so I zoom out expecting a bag on my arm like everyone else but instead, I get this gorgeous HUD. Click the big icon in the middle et voila, the little blue box of joy adds items to my inventory.

This is the first of these I have run across in SL and I love it! You can click for a landmark, the items, or the custom buttons at the bottom for De La Soul’s wordpress, facebook, twitter and flickr. No inventory full of notecards and landmarks unless I click for them. And if you don’t read the description and rez it on the ground, its a cute little identical looking 3D object with the same buttons and capabilities.

How frickin’ cool is that?

Yea yea, I know. Old news to most people, probably. Well I’m just an old timer who still has memories of system hair and shoes before prim attachments. These scars run long and deep.

New from Soul is the all-mesh “Archer 2” which comes in every color under the rainbow with either black or brown mesh trousers. The belt comes with its own HUD to alter the metal and leather bits to match the trousers. I absolutely love the rich textures on the trousers and belt, both. It has some real serious weight to it like you could reach in and really feel it. The tunic is simple and lightweight with a fine attention to detail especially around the borders and stitched seams in the fabric. It has great movement around the legs as well as the bell-sleeves which is why I chose a sort of ‘action shot’ pose to really highlight it.

The outfit comes in S, M, L, XL and XXL. This was a great thing to see in and of itself- that XXL size. Most ‘standard sizing’ mesh items I have to wear a large and it just barely fits me. Here, I’m wearing the Medium so I know that XXL is going to fit a lot of the bigger guys out there.

Finally, the tight ankle of the trousers fits in almost every pair of boots I tried on with them. Ultimately I went for bare feet because, really, who doesn’t like the feel of wet grass first thing in the morning? Ok, fine, but seriously, I wanted to highlight the close fit and the fact that they don’t interfere in the slightest with the mesh feet but at the same time can tuck into a boot.

Don’t let the ‘archer’ title fool you, this would pair great with a cloak and some wizardy type accessories just as easily as it would any period RP costuming. Perfect addition for you Game of Thrones folks, too.

Not only that, but the trousers work great on their own for any look. Like, say, lounging at the edge of this amazing new hot tub from Cory Edo and Trompe, out now at FaMESHed.  The most realistic water yet for a hot tub, you can have it with the jets on or off- both with realistic moving textures that just looks sweet. We lounged in the hot tub for a few hours last night chatting with friends, new and old. You can get the hot tub on its own (PG or Adult, as usual), the accessories individually, or the whole pack in one shot if you prefer. Not pictured is also a great fence and open/close gate.

And now I’m off to go see Spirit Light Productions at the LunaMar Performing arts sim.
