Despite what Mr. Petr has to say on the matter, yes, goths- even retired ones like me- do go to the beach. Granted, we go at night for a lovely moon-tan and a firewalk but yes, we do beach, thank you! Do I own beach wear? Yes. Am I wearing it? No. Obviously. *hairflip* But I’ll get to that in a moment.
There are two absolutely wonderful events going on currently: Summerfest and The Garden. Amazingly creative mesh content providers have come together with new items for both of these “home and garden” style events. Summerfest, on the sim floorplan, is full of, why yes you guessed it, summer beach fun. Everything from 1LP mesh boardwalkways to surfboard showers and everything else you would need to set up your perfect beach setting.
Shopping festivals aside, summer for the queer community means one thing, first and foremost, Pride. Like any festival on Second Life, that also means shopping. Shopping and 3 Pride sims full of half-naked men? I’ll take it.
The jeans and harness both come from ZED. The harnesses come in several different styles, with or without the shoulder cap, with or without lacings. The particular one I purchased, the laced version, comes in several different textures (latex, suede, leather..) all in black. Other colors across the rainbow and styles are available. I didn’t see any fatpack type of offerings, so if you want the buckled one and the laced one, you’re buying two different items.
The jeans come with a belt. And this is the one thing I was kinda miffed about the purchase. The jeans fit my body perfectly (Size M, standard sizing) however the belt was about half a foot out on both sides of my body. That… made no sense. Additionally, the belt is physically part of the mesh pants. Rigged, means you can’t move it. The resizing script could make it smaller, however, it shrunk only the front while the back was about a mile past my ass. Not a good look. I ended up having to shrink it into my body to just make it disappear. The jeans, however, are bloody well awesome. The texturing and style of them were right up my alley. Distressed, splattered, and as you well know, wrinkled and shaded. Ahh, bliss.
We’d just about finished our round of shopping on the first sim when we ran into the Yifu’s in front of Regi’s shop, Regimade. Famous for their Fuckin’ <Insert Random Item Here> line of sex anywhere products, Regi also makes some of the most fun freebies available. Every DJ set I’ve ever been to of his includes passing out some kind of freebie to go with one song or another. For Pride, Regi’s provided these fabulous dancing flying saucers. Touch the little red box in front of his booth and sit on the temp-rez item. You will also get one in your inventory for your own use later.
Everyone knows I am a menace when it comes to driving anything like a vehicle on Second Life. Besides the fact the movement tends to make me nauseous, I just have no three-dimensional spacial ability in this capacity. So after a multitude of near misses, crashes, hilarious laughter, getting stuck in a shop, and finally slamming right into someone I didn’t even know, I finally got the hang of it. Sorta. Don’t forget to type ‘beam’ while flying and dancing. Spread the Pride love.
