Trials of Eyeliner

Comes across all shy and coy, just another nancy boy

As you know, I’m an insane creature of habit. I’m me, just me, nobody else but me (boop boop, ba boop). When I find a skin, I stick with it. Eventually, a skin comes along that’s better than what I have and I like more, and I change.

This has happened, looking in my inventory at all of my past skins, 5 times in 6 years. No, I’m not joking. 5. Of course I have dozens of skins in my inventory for specific photos, absolutely fabulous skins by Fallen Gods especially. But the every day wear this skin all the time? 5.

The important thing to note here is that 3 of those changes have happened in only the last 2 years. I was in only 2 skins for the first 4 years of my SL. I suppose technically I should say 6 skins since there’s also that very oh-so-tragically-goth-I-shit-bats skin from my rez day back in 2006. But I desperately try to forget that skin.

Work with me, here.

So today I bring you, Nigel’s Skin #6.

This incredibly high quality skin comes from ReishiProphet and his skin store, Nivaro. He only currently has 4 different lines; this one being Cunov. Course, when I say “only” four, each line has the various, very realistic skintones from a delicious pale to a devious dark, each with various amounts of body hair.  And for the first time in my SL career, Nigel’s no longer waxing.

Gasp!

As an aside, I’ve never liked most of the body hair on the skins I’ve looked at in SL. Its either way too much for my tastes or just not done well. Its the type of skin that draws my attention that does it. Previous to tattoo layers and multiple layers on the same point, we were awfully limited in what we could do. I’m an eyeliner whore- and I’m covered in tattoos- so its been a limited selection on what you had to sacrifice to wear one or the other. Bless that we don’t have to anymore and you can just pile on. I’ve heard much the same complaint from ladies in the past. “Oh if this skin only had pale lipstick, I don’t wear dark lipstick…” With the tattoo and multiple layers now, we can really branch out and wear skins that don’t have them included but not lose out.

But back to ReishiProphet’s amazing skin, Cunov.

Right off the bat, I loved the face. It wasn’t one of the perpetual frown faces that are currently so popular. Smooth with excellent definition. No freckles or permanent 5 o’clock shadow on the “bare” skin. No “realism!” pores the size of craters which end up looking more fake, in my opinion. Just a nice, gorgeous line of the features.

Now cut to the body. I’m not a gym queen. My workouts consist of dancing all night in clubs and other.. extracurricular activities. But I want a little bit of definition. I’m not a teenager. This skin hits that midpoint exceptionally. So I was already sold when Vixn, who found this designer for me while I was building her commercial sim, says, “Leg test! Drop’m!”

I haven’t been that pleased with the results of dropping my pants to let someone look at my legs in… well, hours. Seriously, I think for the first time my knees didn’t look distorted. And the backs of the knees! Wonderful shading all along the thighs. I’m even impressed with the spine which can often look like an offcolor smudge- this looks great. And it does give some bounce to my backside.

I really hope to see more from this ReishiProphet. Absolutely awesome work.

Pardon me while I race to put my eyeliner and tattoos back on. Its awfully naked in here!!!

Toodles,

-N
